Young movie fans are now SPO fans!

We couldn’t help but post a note of thanks to everyone who came and enjoyed our May 4th concert. While there were many highlights of this concert, including the presentation of great animated short films from graduates of the Sheridan College Animation program (with original music performed live by the orchestra while the movies were projected on the big screen), it was also a special day for fans of Star Wars and John Williams’ great Star Wars music. Four young fans went all out and donned costumes of their favourite characters. And the youngest fan was born on May 4th

Amazing recent review of “Canadian Panorama”

Thanks to Alex Eddington, a part of our SPO family and composer of very interesting music, he let us know that our first SPO CD, “Canadian Panorama” recently received a glowing review from the University of Virginia’s Ralph Graves (WTJU 91.1FM). Congratulations again to the composers and the Winds of the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra on your amazing recording. If you would like to read Mr. Graves’ review, click here. BUY TICKETS ONLINE – Don’t miss “Star Wars Suite” performed live this May 4th!

One of the most identifiable and appreciated pieces of film music ever filled the SPO rehearsal space last week. John Williams’ “Star Wars Suite” is an important part of the force, and I was feeling it. From the opening hit, to the familiar themes, this film music is epic and truly classic. Our brass section is tight. The string players fingers are often flying. Our woodwinds are sweet and delicate (especially in “Leia’s Theme”). I can’t wait until tomorrow night’s rehearsal to enjoy that feeling again. If your a fan of film music, know this – the Fourth is with

The fourth is with the SPO!

That’s right.   May 4th is a special day for fans of Star Wars.    Make your “fourth” extra special and join the SPO for our performance of Suite from “Star Wars”, plus other familiar movie themes. You also won’t want to miss the orchestra performing newly composed music live to great short animated films created by fourth-year students of the Sheridan College Animation program. We had the chance to select the films to present, and they are amazing in their quality and in their themes. A Sheridan College graduate recently received an Academy Award for their work. That’s another good reason
