The Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO) has been dedicated to enriching the musical life of the Greater Scarborough area since 1980.  We present high-quality musical performances that offer a friendly, affordable, enriching, and convenient live-entertainment experience.

As we adapt to Covid-19 restrictions (and until we can return safely to the stage), our 2020/2021 season will feature online digital content, presented in two Series.

Series 1: The SPOGreatMusic Podcast

Hosted by our Composer-in-Residence, Dr. Daniel Mehdizadeh. This series will be released every other Friday, starting on September 16, 2020, and will run through the end of April 2021. Daniel will be interviewing amazing people from our SPO family, as well as special guests and representatives of our industry. We’ll even have a special podcast in Chinese, to celebrate Chinese New Year on February 12, 2021. You can find our SPOGreatMusic podcasts on major platforms like Apple, Google, and Spotify. This is a great way to learn more about the SPO, great classical music and composers, and much more.

Series 2: Online Video Performances

This series features pre-recorded video performances by SPO musicians, Dr. Lisa Tahara (Artist-in-Residence), and special guests from near and far. New videos will be posted to our YouTube channel every other Friday, starting on October 9, 2020, through to the end of April 2021. We’ll also be featuring a new short animated film on each release date, created by 4th Year students of the Sheridan College Animation program, complete with new music tracks created and performed digitally by members of our SPO family.

Our concerts are known for the quality of performance. You can expect the same from our online offerings.
