The Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO) has been dedicated to enriching the musical life of the Greater Scarborough area since 1980.  We present high-quality musical performances that offer a friendly, affordable, enriching, and convenient live-entertainment experience.

We are also very proud to be part of our vibrant and diverse community of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.

As we adapt to Covid-19 restrictions (and until we can return safely to the stage), our 2021/2022 season will continue to feature online SPOGreatMusic Digital Content, presented in two Series.

Series 1: The SPOGreatMusic Podcast Season 2

Dr. Daniel Mehdizadeh continues as our podcast Host.  As we all work to get ready to return to the stage, SPO will offer four episodes this season, plus two special video episodes we are creating with our Community Partners, the Stratford Symphony Orchestra.

SPOGreatMusic Podcast episodes will air on Fridays, October 1 and December 3, 2021, plus February 4 and April 1, 2022. Daniel will be interviewing amazing people from our SPO family of musicians and composers, as well as special guests and representatives of our industry. You can find and play our SPOGreatMusic podcasts for free on our homebase, Anchor.fm/spogreatmusic, plus on major platforms like Apple, Google, and Spotify. This is a great way to learn more about the SPO, great classical music, epic composers, and much more.

Series 2: SPOGreatMusic Video Performances

This series features pre-recorded video performances by SPO musicians and special guests from near and far. New videos will be posted to our YouTube channel every second and fourth Friday of every month, starting on October 8, 2021, through to the end of April 2022. For December 2021 and February 2022, we’ll have extra episodes celebrating the Holidays, and to celebrate our “Flute Music by Women Composers – An International Online Festival” which has activities running from February 4-25, 2022.

Our concerts are known for the quality of performance.

Our 2020/2021 Online Digital Content was also award-winning having received the Canadian Music Centre’s “Beckwith Award”!
